I think what you have suggested above will work, given you have the correct script in place, however, I don't think that would be needed as based on the device being used to access the site muse re-directs the users to the correct layout if you have that layout designed in Muse.
Usually, users who visits the web site does not re-size their browsers, so if they are getting the layout based on their screen size, then you might not need to re-direct the pages, but that's my opinion. I will keep this forum open for more thoughts.
